Do you know the top seven industries that use valves?

Do you know the top seven industries that use valves?

Valves are an extremely versatile device that can be found almost anywhere. They are active under streets, in houses, in power plants and paper mills, in refineries, and in a wide variety of infrastructure and industrial facilities.

Here are seven industries in which valves are commonly used and how they are used:

1. Power industry

Many power plants use fossil fuels and high-speed turbines to generate electricity. Gate valves are power plant on/off applications. Sometimes other valves are used, such as Y globe valves.

High-performance ball valves are widely used in the power industry.

Power plant applications place pipes and valves under tremendous pressure, so valves require strong materials and designs to withstand multiple cycles, temperatures, and pressures.

In addition to the main steam valve, the power plant has a number of auxiliary pipes. These auxiliary pipes consist of various globe valves, butterfly valves, check valves, ball valves and gate valves.

2. Water works

Water plants require relatively low pressure levels and ambient temperatures.

Because the water temperature is normal, rubber seals and elastomers that are not suitable elsewhere can be used. These types of materials can be used to seal the installation of the water valve and prevent leakage.

Waterworks valves typically have pressures well below 200psi, so a high pressure, wall thickness pressure design is not required. Unless valves need to be used at high pressure points in DAMS or very long waterways, a built-in water valve may be required to withstand pressures of around 300psi.

3. Offshore industry

The piping systems of offshore production facilities and oil RIGS contain a large number of valves. These valves are available in a variety of specifications to address all flow control challenges.

A key part of an oil production facility is a gas or oil recovery pipeline system. The system is not just used on platforms, its production systems are typically used at depths of 10,000 feet or more.

On larger oil platforms, more processing of the crude from the wellhead is required. These processes include the separation of gas (natural gas) from fluid vapor and the separation of water from hydrocarbons.

These systems typically use ball and check valves and API 6D gate valves. API 6D valves are not intended for applications where piping is strictly required. They are typically used in internal facility piping on drilling vessels or platforms.

4. Waste water treatment

Wastewater lines collect waste solids and fluids and divert them to the wastewater treatment plant. Wastewater treatment plants use low pressure lines and valves to work, and in many cases wastewater valves are more relaxed than clean water requirements.

Check valves and iron RAMS are popular options for wastewater treatment.

5. Oil and gas production

Gas Wells and oil Wells and their production facilities use many heavy-duty valves. The pressure of underground gas and oil is so great that oil and gas can shoot up to 100 meters into the air.

The combination of valves and special fittings can withstand pressures in excess of 10,000 psi. Such pressures are rarely seen on land and are relatively common in deep-sea Wells.

Valves used in wellhead equipment are subjected to high temperatures and extreme pressure. Valve piping assemblies usually contain special globe valves (called throttle valves) and gate valves. Special stop valves are used to regulate the flow from the well.

In addition to wellheads, natural gas and oil fields also require valves. These include process equipment for pretreating natural gas or oil. These valves are usually carbon steel, of a lower grade.

6. Pipeline

Many important valves are used in these lines: for example, emergency line stop valves. Emergency valves can isolate a section of line for maintenance or leakage.

There are also dispersal facilities along the line: this is where the line emerges from the ground, and this is the equipment used to inspect and clean the line. These stations contain multiple valves, usually ball or gate valves. The valves of the piping system must be opened to allow the passage of launching equipment.

7. Commercial buildings

Standing commercial buildings, there are a lot of pipelines inside. After all, every building needs water and electricity. For water, there must be a variety of plumbing systems to carry tap water, waste water, hot water, fire protection, etc.

In addition, in order for fire fighting systems to work properly, they must have sufficient pressure, and the type and category of fire assembly valves must be approved by the appropriate regulatory authority before installation.
